Kagyu Traditions

Sang chholing Monastery, which belongs to Kagyu traditions, is one of the historical monasteries of Phulasi region. The grandchildren of Karma Thupten, the main throne holding lama of Sang chholing Monastery have been preserving the royal tradition of Yarlung Dynasty along with the culture, religious tradition, and language of this region. At present, this monastery is registered under the Archaeological Department and Buddhist Philosophy Promotion and Monastery Development Committee of Nepal government. Previously, the Malla King and Shah Dynasty had also contributed to the preservation and promotion. At Eastern part six monasteries. One of in Phulasi region.

Karma Thupten (18.-19...) was the founder and throne holding lama of Sang Chholing Monastery. He was a progeny of Venerable Karma Thupten Rinpoche (descendant of Yarlung Dynasty and throne holding lama of Sang chholing Monastery). And renewed in1883 by Khamsung Wangdui Yolmo, the Monastery (situated at Phulasi, 6 Ramechhap) in 1881 AD. This monastery has statues of Padmasambhava in the middle, Guru Drakpo at right side and Singtongma statue of at the left side.

This monastery was completely renovated in 1981 by the 4th throne holding Lama Dawa Sangbo Yolmopa Rinpoche. The successive throne holding lamas of this monastery are Venerable Lama Karma wangGyal, Lama Sing man, Lama Dawa Dorje Yolmopa, and present, Lama Babu Lal is the 6th throne holding lama of this monastery.
